Empathy

It's something that you can't teach your children, but you want them to have - empathy.

Towards people, animals, situations....empathy -not to be confused with sympathy - goes a long way.

My 18 month old daughter knows what empathy is. This thrills me. She snuggles and cuddles and pats people on the back that are crying. She runs to the dog when he is barking (she knows he is scared).

The older children know what empathy is also, but there is something neat about seeing it in a baby.....
